Project Quilting - Season 10 is on!

If you've never done or heard of Project Quilting checkout this blog.
I participated last season and you can check out my entries in previous blog posts.  I am excited to participate this year!  My main goal is to use scraps rather than buying fabric or supplies.  Last year I bought something new for almost every challenge and I have plenty of stash so I should be able to use what I have.


Challenge 1: Hope Springs Eternal

I've been listening to Dave Ramsey since the last week of 2018. I'm doing January on a budget and I would like to really try the baby steps this year.  If you need info about Dave Ramsey, go here or check him out on YouTube.

I would like to payoff my car this year. That is the inspiration for my quilt. I did some raw edge applique.

Adding the background.  If I were to do it again I would have put the pink background up higher so you can see it thru the window of the car as well.

The final Result:
I left the car pieces and the $ sign unquilted. Up close it adds some dimension & movement to the piece.  The loose quilting around the rest of the piece also keeps it softer than ones I've done in the past.

A Stitch in Time This is my piece:   Canary@Work 27" x 16 1/2" I create in Schaumburg Illinois I started by looking up the proverb. It's basically about saving effort, saving time, procrastination is evil.... so I went towards the saving effort end of the spectrum.  My team at work is in the software development realm. We needed an automated testing solution that is easier to use. I took that task on.  With a couple of tools I developed Canary.  We call it canary, because coal miners used to send canary birds into the mines. Project quilting: season 11, challenge 1: A Binary Life

Welcome to Season 11 of Project Quilting!  Find out more here .   I am excited to do my first project of the season. I'll post a blog entry for each project (6 total). I understand why you might think "binary life" refers to the current discussion of gender norms in society. This quilt has nothing to do with gender.  Binary in this case refers to technology.  I'm a software engineer. I've been into computers since i was a kid. Computers and the internet at their basic level are a series of 0s and 1s, aka Binary. My original plan when i got this challenge was to do a binary binary quilt with a whole lot of zeros and ones pieced from scraps. Life got in the way. Saturday morning and i still haven't started. I knew i wanted to do the challenge so i sat at my machine,  grabbed some scraps and tried to create a 1. Then i created a 0. Ok, easy enough. But i don't want to make a zillion of them.
